Veterinary Surgeons, Livestock Officers, and Animal Development Officers are appointed at the Upazila, District, and Divisional levels under the Department of Livestock the BCS Livestock Cadre. If you want to work in this technical position, you must have a bachelor’s degree in veterinary and animal science. In addition to livestock offices at the Upazila, district, and divisional levels, livestock cadres work in the Department of Livestock, Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute, zoos, and various government breeding centers and farms.

Among the private universities, only Savar Public University offers degrees in Veterinary and Animal Science.
What can be the career of an officer recruited in BCS Livestock Cadre?
It takes approximately 8-10 years to start working as a Veterinary Surgeon, Scientific Officer or Poultry Development Officer and become an Upazila Livestock Officer.
It takes 8/10 years from Upazila Livestock Officer to District Livestock Officer. However, the promotion depends on the skills, qualifications, and availability of the position.
After the District Livestock Officer, there is an opportunity to become Additional Deputy Director and Deputy Director at the divisional level. In addition, managers or directors of livestock farms, research centers, and breeding centers are appointed.
At the top of his career, a livestock cadre got the opportunity to become the Director-General of the Department of Livestock.
